This is kinda crazy. You would never know walking around in Vegas that this is under your feet.
Doesn't Vegas get the monsoon season? You would think these people would be washed away all the time.

There is a book called "Beneath the Neon" that came out a year or two ago. It was written by an author from Vegas about this exact thing. The newspaper writer basically copied this guys work for the story. How these people don't die when that floods is amazing.
