Welcome back Vargas

The Brewers acquired Claudio Vargas from the Dodgers for eternal minor leaguer Vinny Rottino.

Kinda funny that I just mentioned him in a previous post. Maybe Melvin is a fan of Casa De Machado? (he probably wants to run over Hart too)

I like this move mainly because we get a seasoned guy for nothing. Rottino is a home grown guy, but was eternally blocked. I don't think he ever would have made it to the show. Maybe he'll get a shot with the Dodgers. Rottino always seemed like a good hard working guy. I wish him well wherever he ends up.

Sounds like Vargas was out most of the season with an injury, but since his return he's been throwing the ball well. I can't wait to see the houdini of bases loaded go to work.

Hall sent down

Hall has been sent to Nashville. It was technically Hall's choice being that he has 5 years majors experience. Hall wasted no time saying that it was HIS choice and HE wanted to go down and work on his swing and it will be HIS choice when he comes back up.

The bad thing about Hall going down is he'll be taking away playing time from real athletes.

Fuck you Bill Hall. Enjoy the flight, I hope it's coach.

Hardy sitting today? Hmmm

Counsell at short so Hardy has the day off. Seems a little bit suspisious with the trade deadline looming. Is something in the works?

I don't think there is anything left on the market that would take a player like Hardy to get, but who knows what deal porn-stache is working on.

Tom I just sent you an e-mail about Elmer Dessens. He was DFA today, any chance they pick him up just for mop up duty so our bullpen can get a little bit of a rest?

I don't know who Sconnie is, but clearly this person is a fucking idiot. I was just about to start a new segment on here called "Shitty former brewers that still suck shit". Elmer Dessens was going to be the first person.

Rock Bottom?

I think this team needed to hit rock bottom before going on a tear. Was losing to the Nationals twice the bottom? Last nights game I think defined what we all thought this team would be from the beginning. Shitty pitching picked up by a strong offense.

It was pretty awesome for Megeeneeheegenee to jack the bomb after his kid with Cerebral Palsy threw out the first pitch. He really needs to see more playing time. Rookie of the year?

I see Corey Hart is back to the Abe Lincoln look. I heard 'Our American Cousin' is playing down at the PAC. He should totally check that out!

I think we've seen the true Parra at this point. I don't think he's a diamond in the rough. I think he's kinda like a cow turd. He has some good uses like making manure, but even then he still smells like shit.

Looked to me like the pitch that Braun was barking about was a strike. I've never seen Braun get run, but I think he was close that time. I'm actually kinda looking forward to seeing that some day. It should be good times. I can see him flailing his arms around like coco the monkey.

Day game today. Usually that spells disaster, but I'm going to say that we've turned a corner now. 62 games to go.

Probably no Washburn for Crew

The Pirates have continued their push at a World Series run in 2079 by trading Jack Wilson to Seattle for Ronny Cedeno and a bucket minor league crap. I guess that means Seattle has their SS. Ian Snell was also in the deal, so that leaves the Pirates with Paul Maholm as their steady hand? That guy is the ugliest mother fucker I've ever seen. His face looks like someone put water colors on a turd. I can see why Ian Snell wanted to off himself having to look at him every day.

That really says a lot about the Pirates. You had a player that would rather have died than play for your team.

Gamel Hobo time machine?!

There is no doubt that this is Mat Gamel in the early 1900's. Check out the side profiles. Apparently, he and Kendall have devised some type of hobo time travel.

Brutal II - The Sequel

At least it appears Braun is out of his month long slump.

Villanueva pitched for shit. That was really surprising. Who would have thunk? Oh yeah, EVERYONE except Macha.

Suppan is hurt again at the end of July. I'm beginning to think he has a vacation clause in his contract. Normally Suppan going down would be a good thing, but now who the fuck is going to pitch for him? With the current pitching situation we will be lucky to be a .500 team.

Help Wanted

Baseball is really my sport and my other two posters will probably be very limited. Bob Cooper spends most of his time sifting through my trash while boozing and Chorenzo Chorizno works hard at the sausage factory. I'd like to find someone else willing to post on college sports, basketball and football. (they could add to the baseball or whatever too if they would like). So, if anyone out there is interested in posting shoot me an email.

A love for hobo's and vulgarity are a plus

Stupid JSOnline comments

Here are a few gems from todays comments:

He's got to sit Kendall, more. There was a remarkable difference between Chris Smith's past outings and this one. With Rivera, he got ground balls. Do the Brewers' personnel pay attention to these forums and polls?
Yes, I'm sure Brewers personnel would be interested in hearing your retarded views.

BEAN BALL - Brewer pitchers ever heard of it????Your entire staff is getting rocked by the last place team, give up 2 Grand Slams and nobody gets a pitch in the ear hole???Give Me A Break
Your team sucks ass so you should intentionally try to give someone brain damage? Good call asshole. Let's be short another pitcher via suspension. That will help the situation greatly.

Monday Jul 27, 2009 11:24 PM
Send him to AAA. I would (meaning Suppan)

Great idea. You really understand baseball contracts shit for brains.

Escobar was not ready. I thought he was be but I was wrong. And when he does play he's going to make a lot of errors being a rookie SS. Then some of you malcontents may appreciate Hardy's steady play.
When you have this many grammatical errors it is pointless to get out your thesaurus.

Tuesday Jul 28, 2009 12:09 AM
Maybe the Crew can turn it around but right now its sad to see them fade this bad...So tomorrow, house rules go into effect since the Crew is under .500, no Brewers on TV...I sure hope its temporary...

Yes, why support the team when they need you most. Asshole.

Before I get into the train wreck of a game I have a few comments about the broadcast.

Was it really necessary to point out Marquis Grissom as the first base coach of the Nationals? I was under the impression that I would never have to see him again. I was happy with that. Maybe I'll start a new regular post of ex-Brewers that went on to do menial tasks. Who gives a shit.

This new batting stance guy thing is tarded. I don't care what player you are pretending to be nor will I be watching the terrible post game show to find out. I'd rather have a paper cut on my dick hole.

I'd like to meet the rocket scientist that decided to have the broadcast from the Harley Deck. I'm guessing this person drools a lot and possibly is not capable of rational thought. Why not just put them in the Dew Deck? How about in the parking lot? They couldn't even see if a ball was a home run. It wrecked the entire broadcast dynamic.

How many times do we need to see the AT&T Game Reset? Get's a little annoying especially when you are losing by 200 runs.

Ok, now for the game. The Brewers have a knack for making terrible teams look awesome. The nationals looked like a world champion. We could have used Claudio Vargas last night to get out of the bases loaded jams.

You should never be caught out at home twice in a game. That killed 2 rallies. Maybe it's time for Brad Fischer to take a permanent vacation. That's not the first time this year he's made bad calls at 3rd. He should know that Lopez is not running well. Why the fuck are you sending him home when he already stopped?

I'm getting angry even talking about this so I'm done. About the only thing I liked about this game was RJ. Swindles Bugs Bunny curveball; however, I think that having 2 pitchers with the same look in Stetter and Swindle will take away the effectiveness.

That's it. That game was pure shit.

What the fuck?

Villanueva has been picked to start tomorrow. When I saw this I had to check the calendar and make sure it wasn't April 1st. I can totally see why he would be pegged being that he got shelled last time he started and has an ERA of almost 7. I think Macha had a stroke and checked the wrong box on the lineup card. Otherwise, there really is no excuse for this.

I understand that AAA starts do not directly equate to big league starts, but at least Dillard has pitched well this year including just coming off a 1 hitter while facing the minimum.

More updates tomorrow. Clown is down with the sickness.

Awesome Defense

The dirt bike riding manatee did not seem to change our luck. This could be due to the fact that we played for complete shit. I didn't think it would be possible to hate Corey Hart any more, but when he tanks 2 very catchable balls it is. I don't even think I can talk about Gerut in center field as it makes me too angry. I didn't hear anything about Cameron being hurt, so WTF?!

The 'Cards' are stacked against us with the pickup of Holliday. It's going to be a difficult run at it. The Cardinals have far superior pitching and more consistant hitting.

The rumor is Jarrod Washburn for JJ. Hardy. I think the price would be more than that. I bet Jack Z. would want Jason Bourgeois or Taylor Green.

There's a real life National Hobo Convention in Britt, IA. The best thing about this is the following chart of symbols for the hobo's to communicate:

Save the Wave... Or something

The Milwaukee Wave are for sale and the XSL is taking a year hiatus. The Wave has launched it's 'Save the Wave' compaign where they are asking for season ticket pledges for next year. Apparently, some other indoor league is interested in bringing them on.

it really is too bad that they are having this type of trouble. They are probably the best indoor soccer team ever and continue to play at a championship level every year. Keith Tozer puts an amazing product on the field every year.

Unfortunately, no one gives 2 shits about soccer. I think I was at a Wave game once when I was like 12? If they do end up playing next year I may actually go to a game. At least I'll be able to see a team in Milwaukee that has a legit shot at winning it all. Any sport that has constant violent melee's can't be all bad? Right?

A new tradition

The Hacks used to post a mascot to propel the Brewers to a sweep before the final game of the series. Today we will start a new tradition and a new mascot. I will be posting this before the first game of every series. This is guaranteed to work!

Weathering the fair weather

How much pressure are Melvin and Attanasio under to make a big trade before the deadline? How long will it take the fans that jumped on the bandwagon after the C.C. trade last year to jumped back off if a major deal isn't made? How long before 32,000 fans on a Tuesday night turns back into 17,000?

How many of the newely acquired female fans are there to see JJ. hottie and would be devistated if we traded Hardy? Would they stop coming all together? Would they get laser removal for their I heart JJ tramp stamp?

It's difficult to field a playoff caliber team every year and there really isn't any affordable talent on the market. Also, JJ. will most likely be gone in the offseason.

I think we'll have these answers soon. As much as it's gotten rather annoying to not be able to get a last minute ticket to a Friday through Sunday game we need the fair weather fans. I hope the fad continues.

Reality Check

When the hitting is there, the pitching is not and vise versa. When the offense scores 7 runs against a team as shitty as the Pirates you shouldn't have any trouble winning. Mike Burns is clearly not the answer to the pitching hole. Do we go and drop our best minor league talent on an ace when the hitting is this inconsistent?

I think it might be time to face the reality that this probably isn't the team that will take us to as Craig Counsell put it "Fun games in October". Thus, I don't feel it is worth it to dump any more minor league talent on a pitcher that will not have the run support to get it done. Teams with 4 players in the starting lineup batting at or below .260 usually aren't going anywhere. (see my mid season report)

I'm not giving up. I'm just being realistic and I'd rather not see us trade anymore away. I think it's time to ride this out to the end and see where it goes. I know Dillard has had issues when brought up in the past, but it's time for him to sink or swim. He's earned that chance.

If you can't pull away from the mediocre pack that is the central div. then you have no business in the playoffs and you sure as hell won't be winning the Wild Card.

Seth McGinger

At this point I wouldn't trust you to pitch pennies. You are fucking useless.

The worst part about this game was Hall getting hits. That means more Hall in the future.

I really wanted us to beat these chumps.

Clown is angry.

UPDATE: Sorry Seth, I was just angry. We cool?

Todays Lineup

Lopez is out as expected. This lineup kinda makes me want to vomit.

RF Corey Hart - A guy who says he won't take pitches probably shouldn't be leading off
CF Mike Cameron
LF Ryan Braun - Uh oh. It's a day game
1B Prince Fielder
2B Casey McGehee - Megeeneeheegenee
3B Bill Hall - Clap Clap!
SS JJ Hardy - Blah
C Jason Kendall - Bean situation is top notch today. I predict a HR
P Jeff Suppan - Do you really believe people are yelling SOUUUUUUUUP?

UPDATE: Ryan Braun! Nice.

Ron Ookie Mexico

Michael Vick is a piece of shit. People that abuse defenseless animals are the lowest form of garbage on earth. Not to mention sleeping with women when he knew he had super herpes. He can say all he wants that he's sorry and has learned his lesson. People with a conscience don't do these sorts of things. Apology not excepted fucker.

Roger Goodell will have a PR nightmare on his hands if he reinstates this piece of human excrement. Also, any team that would be interested in him is fucking stupid. You will lose fans and have PETA and other groups protesting at your games. Is it worth risking all of that for a washed up felon?

I realize that other players have done worse and been reinstated. Pac Man Jones made it rain and Ray Lewis was involved in a shanking. I didn't agree with them being reinstated either. Regardless if you are acquitted of these types of crimes or not, the question remains, why the fuck are you hanging around with people involved in this type of activity? You are pro athelete. Ghetto time needs to be over.

End of rant.

Looper Is solid in 4 hit win

A nice win last night with Looper going 7 strong backed up by some great defense. As much as I've ripped on Cameron recently that was a pretty sweet diving catch that probably saved the game. Braun also had a now-signature sliding grab and Counsell with an awesome pick and off balance throw with Prince digging it out.

Fielder was clutch again scoring Counsell twice. Where would be without him this year? Scary.

Lopez left the game with some type of hamstring issue. I doubt that he will be in the lineup today as it is an early day game. Gamel may be back up sooner than anyone thought.

Brewers - Mid-Season grades

Ryan Braun - Grade: B
Obviously, was having a great year until the end of June. I definitely used to enjoy it when Braun would speak his mind, but obviously now he's taken it a bit too far. His words used to motivate the team, but now It's obviously doing the opposite. He is obviously, mired in a terrible slump and definitely needs to work through it instead of making excuses and blaming shadows. He is obviously, way too talented to be doing so. Obviously, Any playoff run will not be possible without Brauns bat coming to life. Obviously.
Sidenote: I once yelled to him "I still love you Ryan Braun!" when I was next in line for an autograph and he had to leave. He totally heard me.
Mike Cameron - Grade: C
I wish that I could do this one in whispers because anytime he is interviewed you can't hear a fucking word this guy is saying. (He could be telling me that my mother is a whore) Cameron came out of the gates sprinting, but has gone back to being exactly what he is, an average player. I just can't get excited about him for some reason. Recently, he is starting to return to the crappy defense that plagued him last year. I haven't checked the stats (mainly because I'm lazy), but it sure seems like he's terrible with RISP. I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this one. Just keep one thing in mind... You're wrong.

Craig Counsell - Grade A
I've always defended Counsell. He's probably my favorite baseball player of all time. (Yes, I'm serious) (No, I don't have a tumor) Counsell has perfected the lost art of taking pitches and running up the count. When you get 10 pitches every time you bat, that's a job well done. Running the starting pitcher early is huge when you have the shitty bullpens of the Central Div. His performance this year has been well above expectations and has filled a great need in the infield with Weeks going down.
Sidenote: I drafted Counsell first in my fantasy league this year. (Yes, I am in last place)

Prince Fielder - Grade A
Fielder has really shown what he can do this year. I really didn't think he had it in him to be a .300+ hitter. He has been solid all year and really hasn't slumped. Without Fielder this team wouldn't even be in contention. Enjoy him while he is here. Big money and hookers are coming his way. Baby need a new pair of shoes (made from hemp)
Sidenote: He cancelled last minute yet again for the block party this year.

Bill Hall - Grade F-
You are a completely worthless sack of rotting donkey shit. You could be swinging a cricket paddle and not make contact with a basketball. It's awesome how you watch every fucking hit you get. It's a ground ball asshole, fucking run. I'm glad you got Lasik so you could watch the ball go right passed you. Fuck you Bill Hall.

JJ. Hardy - Grade D
I'm really disappointed in Hardy this year. He usually starts hot and clearly that didn't happen this year. Yes, he made good contact for a while, thanks for telling me that 391 times Rock. His defense has also been a little off. He'll make crazy diving off the wall plays and then miss a simple grounder. I do see him coming out of this soon. I think he will have a good second half. I think Hardy and Hart will be bundled in a deal for pitching in the offseason.

Jason Kendall - Grade A+++
what Kendall brings to the table is sometimes hard to measure unless you figure in his bean situation. Jason has been living the Hobo life for years and knows how to keep his beans in check. Have you ever heard Kendall say crap like "Hey, the shadows coming off this massive can of baked beans are making me swing at low outside pitches"? I didn't think so. Kendall keeps to himself, does his job and goes home to his box car. Also, as we saw last night he's totally into bum fights.

Corey Hart - Grade F
I used to sing Never Surrender to you when you would come to bat. Now, we're beefin. Maybe if you would spend more time in the batting cage and less getting tattoos of tractors and your squatty wife you wouldn't strike out 11 times out of 10. I have nothing else to say about this prick.

Ricky Weeks (I had to throw him in) F
Does anyone really believe he would have kept up with what he was doing? Let's be serious here. It's Ricky Weeks. I'm not buying it. I can't wait until he comes back next year and get's injured again. Probably stop flicking the fucking bat around 85 times before swinging. I can't imagine why you blew out both your wrists!

More to come.

Sveum gets hit with 3 game suspension

Fuck you, you shitbag umpire:

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum has been suspended for three games and fined for aggressive actions toward the umpires following Sunday's game against the Reds in Cincinnati, MLB said on Tuesday.

After home plate umpire Kevin Causey called out Craig Counsell on strikes to end a 5-3 Reds win, Sveum berated Causey on his way to the umpires' dressing room prompting crew chief Derryl Cousins to step in.

Sveum is scheduled to begin serving his suspension on Tuesday when the Brewers continue their series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Jody Gerut - A side by side comparison

Jeff Karstens aka. little bitch

Take your medicine and shutup. What did you think was going to happen when you slammed Braun halfway up his back? If you had any balls you would have charged the mound not stood there talking smack. Don't be a pussy next time, Smith looks half your size.

I did enjoy how Macha was the first one off that bench and right into the melee. Yost would have sat there.

Did anyone else watch part of the 2007 game they played during the rain delay? I puked in my mouth a little every time they showed Estrada. What a fucking turd. He makes Hardy look fast.

The Hobo, unplugged

Yet another reason I love Jason "The Hobo" Kendall. From JSOnline:

“I just told him to go to first base or go to the pitcher,” Kendall said. “It’s baseball. There’s no need to sit there and talk and this and that.”
Both benches and bullpens quickly cleared but not much more than some screaming and shoving took place and nobody was ejected. Kendall got into a shouting match with Pirates pitching coach Joe Kerrigan, who Kendall repeatedly called by the wrong name after the game despite being told of his real name.
“I was OK until Dave Kerwin started yelling at me,” said Kendall, who ignored the correction. “I’m not going to get yelled at. He started yelling at me and … I’m OK until someone starts yelling at me.
“I don’t know why (he was yelling). Dave Kerwin? I don’t know why.”

Kinda busy at work this morning. More updates this afternoon.

Smash the Pirates!

We really need a sweep here. This division is way to tight now to be fuckin around. The Pirates are shitty and have some chumps pitching. Hopefully, Lopez will be the leadoff spark we've been missing.

And you're pirates? Really?
Come on now.

Brewers acquire Felipe Lopez

Cole Gillespie and right-handed pitcher Roque Mercedes (who the fuck is that?) to AZ for Felipe Lopez. It's pretty sad to have to make this deal when you have the 24 million dollar man Bill (clap, clap) Hall sitting on the bench.

Obviously, Gamel is being sent back down. Probably long overdue on that. Gamel looks lost against big league righties. I can't watch him stand there and take the inside corner strike 3 any more. I think he needs time to get his confidence back raking against AAA pitching.

I really hope with Lopez coming on board that we start to run a bit. Macha needs to get out of the American League mindset.

Crew still in the running for Halladay

According to Haudricourt, Melvin is being coy.

I'm kind of torn on this one. I'd rather not see any more of our young talent gone. Escobar may be unproven and Gamel hasn't raked(yet), but they are still our future. Mehegeheenee has been great this year, but his durability is definitely a question.

On the other hand we are getting to the point with some of our talent that they may be gone in short order. How long can we keep Fielder happy? It sure seems like Hardy and Hart are involved in every trade rumor. Kendall will most likely be gone next year. As much as people rip on his offense, if we are giving up that much for Halladay you better have a quality veteran catcher and not a rookie calling the shots.

In Melvin we trust?

Kenny Powers - Financial Advisor

Lenny Dykstra's been trying to get into the whole stock tip/Jim Kramer deal. This ESPN article earlier this spring which featured some choice insights such as:

The scrappy old center fielder, remembered as "Nails" by adoring Mets and Phillies fans, is chasing money, lots of it -- "cheddar," as it's called in his SoCal lingo. Without being asked, the self-styled investment master -- who, at this moment, is up to his thick neck in lawsuits -- volunteers that he's worth $60 million. This is how it goes for Lenny Dykstra.

In case you missed the HBO profile last year or the magazine stories that trumpet Dykstra's business acumen, his life beyond baseball includes acquisitions such as hockey legend Wayne Gretzky's old house ("the best house in the world," Dykstra says) in Thousand Oaks, Calif., which he bought for $18.5 million. He drives a black Rolls Royce Phantom with an extended wheelbase, and hires pilots to fly him around in his Gulfstream II jet.

The Lenny Dykstra story gets crazier:

Celebrity financial crash of the day: Former Major League Baseball star and Lake Sherwood resident Lenny Dykstra filed for bankruptcy protection today in Los Angeles, listing less than $50,000 in assets -- and debts totaling between $10 million and $50 million. The 46-year-old Dykstra, who played for the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies, retired in 1996. He has since been involved in a number of entrepreneurial ventures, including a string of car washes, an investment column for, and a service called the Players Club Operations that offered credit cards, charter jets and other services to athletes. In April, he bragged to that he was worth $60 million.

Oh, and he's getting a divorce too:

The divorce does not appear to be amicable. Terri requested a restraining order after Dykstra sent her text and e-mail messages like this one from May 19: “PLAYING MR. NICE GUY IS OVER.” Terri said in her court filings that he also left her a voice mail in May stating: “From now on everything is going to be bad, the war is ready to begin and I play ... dirty!”

Dykstra responded that her allegations are false.

The court denied Terri’s request for a restraining order.

Dykstra is living in the Lake Sherwood estate that was originally built for hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. The property is in foreclosure but creditor actions were blocked this month when Dykstra filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Well maybe he can go live with his brother like Kenny Powers. Oh wait!

Even members of Dykstra's family are lined up on the list of those to whom he owes money. His older brother, Brian, has yet to collect a $12,000 judgment awarded by the California Labor Relations Board. His younger brother, Kevin, alleges Dykstra cheated him out of $4 million on the sale of the family-run car washes, though Kevin hasn't filed suit.

What a douche.

Jason Kendall is totally a hobo

For some time now there have been suspicions that Jason Kendall is a Hobo. I believe it was because he looks to be holding a stick and bindle while batting and his disheveled appearance. (or, it could just be that I have a weird fascination with hobos). Then, one day I was walking down some train tracks and stumbled upon Jason "The Hobo" Kendall at his home. I was able to snap the following picture before I was chased away by his scruffy dog:

In honor of Jason's hoboism we cooked a giant can of baked beans on opening day. I think it was like 120oz? Between 2 people we ate 3/4ths of this bastard.

Ass was dropped. Good Times.

Brewers WIN! Clown is pissed?

Clown was a bit busy last night running around. I had the game on the radio, but do to several stops and inter-car conversations I lost track of the action. I arrived at my final stop and listened for the score. Ueck announced that the Reds had tacked one on and it was now Reds 8 - Brewers 3. The following transpired:

Clown "Fuck."
Radio "Click"

I wake up this morning to find the Brewers with a 9-6 win. Clearly, Uecker and I were incommunicado.

I love Ueck, but I think he's lost a step this year.

Give Julio a Shot!

According to Wikipedia (which is always factual!) Julio Machado is back in the baseball biz. I think the Brewers should really give him a shot at coaching. I think he could really get the team fired up.

Plus, there's a chance he might get into an accident with Corey Hart...
