Excessive Patriotism

When did singing God Bless America in the 7th inning start? At some point they started playing it on Sundays this year, but now teams are doing it every day. I have no problem with the national anthem at the beginning of every game. I take my hat off and honor our great nation with pride, but is it really necessary to sing GBA too? Are they going to start doing the pledge of allegiance as well? I feel as though I should be earning some kind of Webelo merit badge at the game.

I understand that baseball is deeply rooted in America's culture and history; however, I'm going to a sporting event not a rally against the British.

I'm actually surprised myself that I have this view. As anyone that knows me will attest I am normally very patriotic. Maybe it's just that I don't like that song. I 'd rather hear Beastie Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn. Infact, that should probably be our national anthem. How kick ass would it be riding into battle with that playing?! Hell Yeah.

I guess Paul Revere would be a perfect fit too...

I just like No Sleep Till Brooklyn. It makes me want to fight.
